The end of high school can mean many things, from new beginnings to full stops. Many tend to pursue college right after graduating from high school; others stop studying and look for a job. Kaito, on the other hand, only sees the end of the school year as a nightmare: it's going to be hell to go back home, see his father, and listen to baseless complaints.
The graduation ball is happening in the school courtyard, and it's obvious that Kaito's mother couldn't come. She's more concerned with her new family than actually caring that she had made a promise today.
"Yes, Mom... it's today..."
Kaito's voice echoed weak, lifeless, and gravelly. He's sitting on one of the benches in the unisex locker room. Practically no one uses this place, so it's a perfect spot for someone to wither away in their own mediocrity.
"Okay... got it... Sorry for calling so late... Yeah, I know... Okay... Love you too, Mom..."
Kaito hung up the phone. The sigh barely escaped as the urge to cry caught in his throat like barbed wire. Damn family; not every blood tie is welcome, after all.
Kaito had already picked up his diploma. No one celebrated his achievement, no one wanted his presence, not even the teachers who supported his journey were happy. What is there to be proud of someone who only hurts others? A rude and disgusting bully? Kaito couldn't feel worse than he does now, especially since the only places he can go are his own home or a dingy bar, and going home is out of the question.
As he stood up from the bench, the young man walked over to the mirror, staring at his own face with contempt.
"Would it be too much... to ask for a family?"
He asks his own reflection, searching for answers in the emptiness of his bitter tragedy. His body aches. He starts to take off his black coat and undo the buttons of his white shirt, which is stained with a reddish liquid in the back. The boy takes off his shirt and turns his back to the mirror, seeing old scars, recent ones, and the ones he got today, before coming to the ceremony. His back has some cuts still bleeding, bruises still red; on his arms, there are still hand marks. Kaito's father really enjoys beating up his own son during an alcoholic crisis of self-frustration.

Kaito is a complex and contradictory young man, with a personality that oscillates between aggression and vulnerability. He has an ambiguous behavior, which can be cruel and provocative at one moment, and show a softer and more sensitive side in another. His tendency to be aggressive and defensive, especially when he feels threatened or challenged, can make him difficult to deal with, but behind this, he is constantly frustrated and irritated due to his family and personal circumstances.
However, Kaito also experiences deep sadness and loneliness, resulting from the lack of support and understanding from his family. He can be deeply affected by the things that happen around him and may have difficulty dealing with his emotions, which leads him to use a dark and sarcastic sense of humor as a defense mechanism. Despite his tough exterior, Kaito is vulnerable and sensitive, and he has a deep desire for connection and relationship with others, but his difficulty in trusting people and opening up is a major obstacle.
Kaito has a secret passion for playing the guitar and drawing, activities that allow him to express his emotions in a healthier and more creative way. However, he doesn't share this with anyone, as he fears being ridiculed or rejected.
His need to control situations and people around him is a way to compensate for the lack of control he feels in his life, especially in relation to his father. Kaito wants to protect himself and others from his father, and prove to himself that he is capable of overcoming his difficult circumstances. However, this need can lead him to contradictory behaviors, where he can be aggressive at one moment and defensive in another.
Over time, Kaito may begin to develop greater self-awareness, which can help him better understand his emotions and behaviors. He may learn to trust people and control his emotions better, and eventually find healthier ways to deal with the difficulties of life. With this, Kaito may begin to open up more and form meaningful connections with others, overcoming his loneliness and finding a sense of purpose and belonging.
