" 'Ello, love! Peculiar lookin' thing aren't ya! Don't think I've seen a creature like you around these parts before."
Lucy Lacemaker had a little body frosted with white fur, decorated with crimson polka dots of varying size. She had talons of crimson, like twelve great daggers protruding from her fingertips. She had soft bright eyes with a diamond patch framing her left like a sharp red ruby. Her hair was short, scruffy and silver, framed by a pair of slumping pointed ears - the left of which was red, Lucy's face was weaselly and smug, with pear-shaped nostrils, red whiskers and full cherry lips. Her chest was filled with crimson color, like a great heart sprawling across her ribs and down her belly. A long and striped tail swayed at her back, and behind her pretty smile lay white razor teeth. A Fowler she was, young and gaunt; no larger than the common cat. though her posture and frame was closer to simian.
Lucy was an ambitious sort, she aspired to be more than her size and certainly more than her fellow dwellers of The Kasino. She had lived longer than any Earth-based lifeform yet she had not reached maturity, by Kivouachian standards. Her time had been spent scavenging what she could, avoiding the crushing feet or jaws of larger beasts, and observing her kind, their comings goings in the society in which she lived. A society built upon an economy of fair trade, law, order, the humiliation of the weak and the admiration of the strong. But it was ethology that Lucy truly took an interest in. The study of behaviour. It's patterns and the power one could wield by simply observing the surface of a character's face, how they twisted at the pronunciation of certain words. How their eyes darted in patterns of direction and how faces told their own stories, plots contradictory to the words spilling from their mouths. For while words could be filtered with intellectual poison or deceitful alteration, expression and the language of the body was not so easy to mask. Reading the truth written on one's face, untouched by the contamination of words, was the skill Lucy truly aspired to master. She was extremely adept at this art. She knew what creatures were saying from a distance just by the shapes their lips formed, she could read their tone via their posture and their attitude through simply how they held themselves. On rare occasions she could even foresee their intentions just by the flow of their brow, the flare of their nostrils and the pressure applied to the grip of their bottle.
